Reimagining Home: How Thoughtful Renovations Transform the Way You Live
When it comes to transforming a home through a full renovation, the goal is always to create a space that truly reflects the lifestyle and needs of the homeowners. At Holly Jones Signature Homes, we believe that a full-gut renovation is not just about updating finishes—it’s about reimagining how a home functions and feels from the inside out. Our thoughtful process allows us to unlock the full potential of a property, especially when the existing layout no longer serves the family’s way of living.
Designing Around the Way You Live
Our Pinnacle Point Lake House project in Emerald Point, Hollister, MO, perfectly illustrates this philosophy. Our clients purchased this property for its stunning lake views and convenient access to the boat launch. However, the main floor layout was fragmented, with a small kitchen separated from a large formal dining room and living room. For this family, a formal dining room was unnecessary, and they wanted a more open, inviting kitchen space that could accommodate casual gatherings and meals.
Making Bold Structural Changes Count
One of the biggest challenges was removing the load-bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room to create one expansive kitchen with a bar area. This required installing a large support beam—a significant investment that the clients felt was well worth it to open up the space and enhance the flow. The result was a bright, airy kitchen that became the heart of the home.
With the two rooms combined, we faced the question of where to place a dining table. Our solution was to design a custom dining table made from the same quartz material as the countertops, seamlessly connected to the bar with a custom bench seat. This setup comfortably seats six people, while the large kitchen island also accommodates six more, providing flexible dining options for up to twelve guests.
Creating a Home That Supports Your Lifestyle
This project highlights how a full renovation can transform not just the look but the lifestyle a home supports. By rethinking the layout and making strategic structural changes, we created a space that feels open, functional, and perfectly tailored to the family’s vacation lifestyle.
